In the 1960's, during the Vietnam war, fear of a nuclear attack fell heavy upon the citizens of the United States of America. Within this period of time, many Americans began to build bomb shelters (Also known as Bunkers or fallout shelter) as a place of refuge, in the event that a nuclear attack was to take place. These bunkers were reinforced with 8" of concrete block strong enough protect from any harmful nuclear rays.
The bunker here at Aguila's Hidaway was built in 1959, and was then converted into a bar and grill in 1962. In , 2021 it remains as an astounding piece of history and attracts new guest throughout the great state of Arizona.
